Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

As of November 4, 2020, SketchUp no longer offers new Classic Licenses or renewals of Classic Licenses. This includes the Classic Maintenance & Support plans. .For more information, please see the End of Support policy.

Important Information

SketchUp Classic Licenses and all related products are no longer available. SketchUp Classic Licenses, also known as Perpetual Licenses, allowed users to purchase a version of SketchUp and continue to use that version as long as they have access to it. However, updates within SketchUp 2024 are only applicable for SketchUp subscriptions.

SketchUp is now available through a yearly subscription. The benefits of a subscription plan include:

  • Access to all the latest features and improvements.

  • Frequent and timely updates.

  • Quick and easy account management, including user and device management.

  • Pro Technical Support.

  • Reminder for the renewal of your subscription.

  • Collaboration, data management, and file storage through Trimble Connect.

Please see below important Terms and Conditions & Frequently Asked Questions.

What is the subscription term?

A subscription term is annual. You pay once when you start and you’re entitled to use all the features contained within your chosen SketchUp Subscription for one full year.

When will my SketchUp subscription expire?

Your subscription will expire and you will lose access to the products and services afforded by your subscription at the end of the subscription term (usually 1 year from the start of the subscription term). We will endeavour to reach out to you in the weeks and days leading up to your renewal date to remind you on your renewal options at the then-current pricing.

What happens if I cancel my subscription?

If you decide to cancel your subscription, you will be able to use the products and services afforded by your subscription for the remainder of the subscription term. There will not be any partial refunds if you stop using your subscription before the end of the term. Ending your subscription does not necessarily mean you will lose all of your files. You can save your files on your own computer for safekeeping. As long as you keep those saved files up to date you can continue to open them in the free version of SketchUp for Web. However, if your saved files rely on some extensions that are not available in the free version of SketchUp for Web, you may experience loss of functionality.

Can I get a refund if I choose to cancel my subscription?

There are no partial refunds if you stop using your subscription before the end of the term.

I own a SketchUp Classic perpetual licence. Do I get free access to a SketchUp subscription as well?

No. SketchUp subscriptions are independent of the SketchUp Classic perpetual licenses.

How many people can use each subscription?

Each subscription is intended for use by an individual (1) named user (person) for the duration of the subscription term (exceptions).

When will my new subscription be ready to use?

We strive to deliver new subscription(s) within two full business days. However, in exceptional circumstances delivery may be delayed. Please let us know, If you have not received email confirmation that your new subscriptions(s) are ready/available within 1 full business day.

How many devices can I use my SketchUp subscription on?

A single-user license or sign-in subscription is associated with one person. That individual can install the license on up to 2 computers he or she is using, but only one computer can run SketchUp Pro at a particular time.

To use your license or subscription on another computer, or transfer a classic license to a new computer, please note the following steps: If you have a classic license and you'll no longer be using it on that computer, remove your license from your current computer by following the steps in the How to Remove a License article.
