SketchUp Getting Started.jpeg

Welcome to your
SketchUp subscription

All you need to know about your SketchUp subscription and an essential guide on how to get your team started.

Set up your Trimble ID

We’re here for your next big idea. Whether your design is massive or miniature, we’ll be with you every step of the way. Sketch. Share. Refine. Build. Shape your tomorrow, with SketchUp.

STEP ONE

  • Create your Trimble ID here if you don’t have one already by following the link from your welcome email. (Note that this needs to be confirmed within 72hrs).

  • You should have already received the welcome email from Trimble SketchUp. If you have not received the welcome email, please check your spam folder (just to be sure it did not end up there).

  • If you already use SketchUp, you can open the application on your desktop (2022 or later) and click “Sign in” to begin this process.

  • If you think you already have a Trimble ID but have not activated it yet, try signing in again.

STEP TWO

  • Once you have signed in, you will see options to view your subscriptions, plan settings, and more.

  • Click My Products to launch or download the products assigned to the email address you have signed in with.

  • You're ready to start modeling!

You can view your subscriptions, plan settings, and more from in My Products.

STEP THREE (START YOUR CREATIVE JOURNEY)

  • The first time you launch SketchUp, a welcome window will indicate whether you're authorized or licensed.

  • If you're currently using a SketchUp Trial or if you have an active subscription, you'll need to click "Sign In" to begin.

Feel free to reach out to us if you are still unable to set up your new account.

Authorizing Your Users

To set up new users in your organisation

  • Log into the Trimble Account portal as a Provisioning Administrator.

  • Assign user subscription entitlements as per the guide linked here.

  • To create a new user, you will need to know their email, first name, and last name. The user’s name may be prefilled if they already have an existing Trimble ID for their email.

As an admin, you are responsible for assigning entitlements to users at your company. For users to get authorized, they each require a unique Trimble ID, which consists of an email and password, as well as a valid entitlement. Users can create their Trimble ID via a link in the automated welcome email they receive when an entitlement is assigned to them.

Once signed in, SketchUp will sync with Trimble servers to authenticate access. When signed into SketchUp Desktop with a Trimble ID, the user will remain signed in after closing the software, unless they choose to manually sign out. SketchUp will need to be online at least every 28 days to re-authorize, or the user will be automatically signed out.

Each user can install the license on up to 2 computers/iPad but only one device can run SketchUp Pro/Studio at a particular time.

Getting
Started

One of the best things about SketchUp is how easy it is to get started. In many cases, companies find that many of their team members already know SketchUp and are ready to start using as soon as it is installed.

However, if you are interested in getting your users properly trained, nothing beats an authorized training session. Training sessions help bring new users up to speed and help fill the gaps in  knowledge of many self-taught users. Contact your Sales Representative to learn more about scheduling your on-site training session.
